Applesauce carrot cake

2 cups All-purpose flour
1 cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Baking soda
½ teaspoon Salt
teaspoon Ground allspice
1 cup Applesauce
3 ounces Cream cheese; softened
2 cups Sifted confectioners' sugar
½ cup Butter or margarine; softened
2 eaches Eggs
cup Grated carrots
1 cup Chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons (to 3) Applesauce

Directions

FROSTING

Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and spices in large mixer bowl. Add applesauce and butter; beat 2 minutes at medium speed, scraping bowl and beaters occasionally. Add eggs; beat 2 minutes.

Stir in carrots and nuts. Pour into greased and floured 9-inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes, until wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool; frost with CREAMY APPLE FROSTING: Beat cream cheese. Beat in sugar and applesauce until smooth.
