FROSTING
I make these every Christmas and since I moved last year, my boyfriend is making me make them year round (they are one of his favorites)..One questons first..how many (in cups) chocolate chips would I need to make one square of chocolate? My boyfriend doesn't like semi-sweet and that is what I always used, (he likes milk chocolate), but I can't find milk chocolate baking bars anywhere here, so I am using chocolate chips. Any ideas on how much chocolate chips I would need to use? Mix together. Divide into 2 parts. To the first part, add 1 square of melted chocolate and ¼ cup nuts. Put this into the bottom of a 13x9 pan.
Then cover with whole graham crackers. To the remaining batter, add ¾ cup chocolate chips. Spoon on top of crackers. Smooth out evenly and bake at 375 for 25 minutes. Frost with chocolate or caramel frosting.
Frosting: Bring to a boil in saucepan, then remove from heat. Add ⅓ cup chocolate chips, if desired. Beat until thick and smooth. Cut into 3 dozen squares.
*Note:For the nuts, I normally use peanuts, but this past Christmas I made it with cashews and right now I am using hazelnuts, so you can pick what you would like and try different nuts. Let me know how it turns out and how you like it!
