Cabbage rolls

Ingredients

1 Head Cabbage
1 pounds Ground turkey -- (or ground
Beef)
1 large Egg -- (or 2 egg whites)
1 large Onion -- chopped fine
½ cup Water
Salt and pepper -- to taste
1 cup Cooked rice -- (optional)
1 pounds Can Tomato puree
½ cup Raisins
½ cup Brown sugar
Juice of 1 lemon
1 large Onion -- sliced

Directions

SAUCE

Boil cabbage until leaves are limp. Cool and separate.

Mix ground turkey (or beef), egg (or egg whites), onions, water, salt and pepper, and cooked rice (if using). Spoon mixture into leaf and roll tightly. Repeat with remaining leaves. Slice any leftover cabbage and put in bottom of pot. Place cabbage rolls on top.

SAUCE: Bring tomato puree to a boil in a saucepan. Add raisins, brown sugar, lemon juice, and sliced onions. Bring to a boil and pour over cabbage rolls.

Simmer cabbage rolls for 1 hour on low heat, or bake covered in 350~ oven for 1½ hours.
