Canadian cookie treats

Ingredients

½ | cup | Butter |
½ | cup | Shortening |
1¼ | cup | Sugar |
1 | Egg | |
1 | teaspoon | Vanilla |
2½ | cup | Flour |
½ | teaspoon | Salt |
1 | cup | Choc. chips |
½ | cup | Broken pecans |
½ | cup | Flaked coconut |
½ | cup | Chopped marachino cherries |
Icing: | ||
1 | cup | Powder sugar |
¼ | teaspoon | Almond extract |
2 | tablespoons | Marachino cherry juice |
Directions
Beat butter, sugar and shortening until fluffy.Beat in egg and vanilla.
Sift dry ingrdients and blend in.Dough will be stiff. blend in chocolate, nuts and fruits. Press into a grease 10 x 15 x 1 pan. bake 350 for 20 minutes or done. Cool to warm and spread on icing. Cut when warm and recut when cool.
