Clara's chocolate cake^

Ingredients

1½ | cup | Sugar |
½ | cup | Shortening or lard |
3 | Eggs | |
2 | Squares chocolate | |
2 | tablespoons | Boiling water |
¾ | cup | Sour milk |
1 | teaspoon | Baking soda |
2 | cups | Flour |
½ | teaspoon | Salt |
2 | teaspoons | Vanilla |
Directions
Melt chocolate in boiling water. Cool. dissolve baking soda in milk.
Meantime, beat together sugar and shortening. Add chocolate. Add eggs one at a time and beat well. Stir in milk. Add flour, salt and vanilla. Pour into greased and floured pans and bake in a moderate oven for about 40-45 minutes.
