Crisp crust apple pie

5 | mediums | Apples; red or golden delic. |
1½ | cup | Sugar |
1 | tablespoon | Flour |
1 | teaspoon | Cinnamon or more depending; on |
½ | cup | Water ---crust----- |
2½ | cup | Self rising flour |
½ | teaspoon | Salt |
⅔ | cup | Shortening |
½ | cup | Ice water; more or less |
¾ | cup | Sugar |
1 | teaspoon | Cinnamon |
½ | cup | Butter or margarine |
Directions
Slice apples thin into an oblong baking dish. Mix together sugar, flour and cinnamon, sprinkle over apples. Pour water over mixture. Crust: Mix flour and salt; cut in shortening. Add enough water to hold dough together. Roll between sheets of waxed paper. Put on top of apple mixture. Sprinkle on sugar and cinnamon (mixed together). Dot with butter cut into patties.
