Hamburger-barley soup

2 pounds Ground beef, lean *
1 pounds Canned tomatoes
6 fluid ounce Tomato juice
7 cups Water
½ pounds Fresh green beanns
1 Green pepper, diced
1 cup Diced celery
½ cup Celery greens
Salt & pepper
2 teaspoons Garlic powder
2 tablespoons Soy sauce **
1 Bay leaf
½ teaspoon Paprika
½ teaspoon Thyme
½ cup Pearled barley
2 Carrots, sliced
1 Baking potato, diced

Directions

* Or use ground turkey ** Low salt soy sauce ~--------------------------------------------------------------------- ~-- Brown meat in skillet. Drain fat and put meat in large pot or dutch oven. Add all ingredients except carrots and potatoes. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes. Add carrots. Wait 10 minutes. Add potatoes. Simmer 20 more minutes.
