Manya's sausage barley and vegetable soup - bon appetit

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
6 ounces Kielbasa or other fully cooked smoked sausage, thinly sliced
1 medium Onion, chopped
cup Canned beef broth
1 14 1/2 to 16-oz can stewed tomatoes
½ cup Pearl barley, rinsed
1 teaspoon Dried savory
1 cup Frozen mixed vegetables

Directions

Saute sausage in heavy large saucepan over medium heat until beginning to brown, about 2 minutes. Add onion and saute until onion is golden and soft, about 4 minutes. Add beef broth, tomatoes with their juices, barley and savory and bring soup to boil. Reduce heat, cover pan partially and simmer until barley is tender, about 20 minutes. Mix in vegetables and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.

Season soup to taste with salt and pepper and serve.
