Sweet potatoes and chestnuts

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
4 mediums Sweet potatoes
1 pounds Chestnuts
Salt to taste
¾ cup Brown sugar, packed
¼ cup Hot water
¼ cup Butter or margarine

Directions

Cook, peel and halve sweet potatoes.

Cover chestnuts with boiling water, simmer covered for about 20 minutes. Rinse in cold water and remove shells and skins. Keep nuts in large pieces and arrange with potatoes in shallow baking dish.

Sprinkle with salt. Bring hot water and brown sugar to a boil. Add butter. Pour liquid in casserole.

Bake uncovered in preheated moderate oven (350 degrees) for 30 minutes.
