Ingredients

2 | cups | Flour |
2 | teaspoons | Baking powder |
1 | pinch | Salt |
1 | pinch | Cayenne Pepper |
1 | cup | Grated cheddar |
1 | cup | Milk |

Directions
Sift the dry ingredients. Stir in the cheese. Make a well in the centre and stir in the milk with a knife. Mix lightly. Turn onto a floured board and pat out into a rectangle. Cut into squares. Top each with a thin slice of cheese. Bake at 450 for 10-12 minutes.
NOW for the question - how do YOU pronouce scone? Here (NZ) it rhymes with on, rather than with stone. However, I have a friend from Connecticut who would pronounce it to rhyme with scorn. She's the one who introduces my husband (Don) and I in such a way that people call him Pat and me Dawn. And we all speak the same language?? Recipe by: pchurch@...
