Country steak (shaker)

Ingredients

3 | pounds | Boneless round steak, 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 inches thick |
½ | cup | All-purpose flour |
2 | tablespoons | Shortening |
1 | teaspoon | Salt |
¼ | teaspoon | Pepper |
1 | tablespoon | Worcestershire sauce |
1 | cup | Celery; chopped |
½ | cup | Onions; chopped |
2 | cups | Beef broth |
½ | cup | Catsup |
6 | eaches | Whole cloves |
Directions
Trim excess fat from steak; sprinkle flour evenly on both sides of steak, and pound with a meat mallet.
Melt shortening in a large Dutch oven; brown steak on both sides.
Combine remaining ingredients, stirring well; pour over steak. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 2 to 2-½ hours or until tender, adding more water if needed.
