Easy chop suey

1 | medium | Onion; sliced |
1 | cup | Celery; sliced |
½ | cup | Mushrooms, fresh; sliced |
2 | tablespoons | Shortening |
2 | tablespoons | Cornstarch |
1 | teaspoon | Salt |
⅛ | teaspoon | Pepper |
2 | cups | Water |
2 | tablespoons | Soy sauce |
2 | cups | Cabbage; shredded |
Rice; cooked (opt.) |
Directions
Brown ground beef, onion, celery, and mushrooms in shortening. Pour off drippings. Combine cornstarch, salt, pepper, water, and soy sauce. Add to meat mixture and cook, sitrring constantly, until thickened. Add cabbage and cook until vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes. Serve with hot cooked rice and additional soy sauce, if desired
