½ | cup | Sugar |
2 | larges | Eggs (well beaten) |
2 | cups | Flour |
½ | teaspoon | Salt |
⅔ | teaspoon | Baking soda |
⅔ | teaspoon | Cream of tartar |
1 | teaspoon | Cinnamon |
½ | teaspoon | Powder cloves |
¼ | teaspoon | Mace |
¼ | teaspoon | Nutmeg |
⅛ | teaspoon | Allspice |
3 | tablespoons | Citron, chopped |
¼ | cup | Raisins, chopped |
½ | cup | Currents, chopped |
¼ | cup | Nut meats, chopped |
½ | cup | Molasses |
Directions
Cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs and molasses. Beat well.
Sift flour, with salt, baking soda, cream of tartar and spices.
Reserve ¼ cup flour mixture, in which to stir fruits. This is to keep them from sticking. Combine all ingredients and mix well. Spread evenly in large, greased pan (14x7 inch). Bake in 350 degree oven until done.
Cut into squares while warm.
