1 | teaspoon | Vanilla extract |
2 | tablespoons | ;Water, cold |
4 | larges | Egg white; beaten stiff |

Directions
YIELD: 6 SERVINGS
NOTE: An airy, easy, and unusual German dessert. It should be served with crisp spice cookies. Heat ½ cup of the applesauce in a saucepan. Dissolve the gelatin in the water, when it is softened, stir into the hot applesauce and blend until the gelatin is dissolved. Add the vanilla to the remaining 1½ cups of applesauce and combien with the gelatin mixture. Fold in the egg whites and chill thoroughly. Top with chopped candied ginger or toasted sliced almonds, if you like. Serve with unsweetened whipped cream.
