One egg devil's food

Yolk of one egg
½ cup Milk
½ cup Cocoa
Beat well & put on stove to
Cook slowly
Until a little thick -- Take
Off & add:
½ cup Milk
Vanilla
Butter size of an egg
cup Flour
3 teaspoons Baking powder} -- sifted
Twice

Directions

Bake in two layers. White frosting Boil 1 scant cup sugar with a little water till it hairs from a spoon. Beat white of egg & pour syrup on to it gradually stirring till cool. Put on a cold cake.
