Ingredients

½ | cup | Shortening |
½ | cup | White sugar |

3 | tablespoons | Milk |
1½ | cup | Flour - sifted |
½ | teaspoon | Baking powder |
¼ | teaspoon | Salt |
1 | Square unsweetened Chocolate | |

Directions
Cream shortening and add sugar gradually. Add egg and milk. Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt, and add to first mixture. Divide the dough, and to one half add chocolate. Roll out the white mixture and then roll out the chocolate mixture to the same size. Place chocolate dough on white dough and roll like a jelly roll. Allow to stand in ice box until cool and firm. Cut into slices and bake on greased baking sheet in hot oven (400 F) for 12-15 minutes.
If desired, the dough may be divided in 3 parts, the third part being coloured with any vegetable colouring matter.
