Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
cup Sugar
1 cup White Corn Syrup
½ cup Water
½ teaspoon Salt
3 Egg Whites
1 teaspoon Vanilla
Walnuts Or Pecans -- to taste

Directions

Combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt. Place over medium heat, allow to come to boiling point. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally until a few drops will form a brittle ball when dropped in cold water (265 F). Meanwhile, beat egg whites until stiff. Pour syrup into whites in a fine stream while beating until candy loses its gloss. Stir in nut meats and vanilla and drop quickly on waxed paper or pour into a buttered pan and cut into squares. Makes about 40 pieces.
