Sherried bananas

6 | Half-ripe bananas | |
1 | cup | Sugar |
2 | cups | Water |
3 | Cloves | |
¼ | cup | Butter |
½ | Lemon; sliced | |
2 | tablespoons | Sherry |

Directions
Cut bananas in half, lengthwise. Fry in shortening until golden brown and remove from skillet. Brown sugar in skillet. Add water and cook until it forms a thick syrup. Add cloves. Add lemon, butter and sherry; simmer 10 minutes. Add bananas and simmer 5 minutes. Serves 6.
