Spice fruit bars christmas cookies

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 pounds Sugar
6½ ounce Butter
8 ounces Molasses
1 pinch Salt
1 teaspoon Lemon rind
1 teaspoon Mace
1½ teaspoon Cinnamon
½ ounce Baking soda dissolved in 1/3 c. water
4 Eggs
Mix 6 cups bread flour into above mixture
3 ounces Sliced almonds
3 ounces Currants
2 ounces Candied lemon peel
2 ounces Candied orange peel

Directions

CREAM TOGETHER

ADD TO MIXTURE

ADD THE FOLLOWING

Allow mixtures to rest overnight in refrigerator. Using a number 8 tube, pipe 6 strips of mixture on parchment paper, 4" apart. Bake at 350 degrees until firm. Allow to cool. Brush on chocolate and decorate with nonpareil.

Yield: 6 strips, each cut into 15 pieces.

Hi everyone I was playing on the computer instead of wrapping presents and stumbled on to the white house web site ( I'm a freak but it's kinda cool ). I saw on there a couple of recipes for the holidays and thought I would share. I have just cut and pasted from the site so I hope all is right.
