1 | pounds | Ground beef |
1 | small | Onion, chopped |
4 | Garlic cloves, minced | |
1 | can | (14 1/2-oz) diced peeled tomatoes |
12 | ounces | Potatoes, peeled, diced |
1 | cup | Canned beef broth |
1 | large | Carrot, diced |
2 | Serrano chilies or small jalapeno chilies, minced | |
2 | teaspoons | Dried oregano |
2 | teaspoons | Chili powder |
1 | teaspoon | Ground cumin |
½ | teaspoon | Ground allspice |
Directions
Heat oil in heavy large skillet over medium heat. Add beef, onion and garlic and saute until beef is cooked through, breaking up beef with back of spoon, about 10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until vegetables are tender, about 15 minutes. Uncover, increase heat and cook until liquid thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.
