Spiced beef w/ chilies & vegetables (picadillo) - bon app

Ingredients

1 tablespoon Olive oil
1 pounds Ground beef
1 small Onion, chopped
4 Garlic cloves, minced
1 can (14 1/2-oz) diced peeled tomatoes
12 ounces Potatoes, peeled, diced
1 cup Canned beef broth
1 large Carrot, diced
2 Serrano chilies or small jalapeno chilies, minced
2 teaspoons Dried oregano
2 teaspoons Chili powder
1 teaspoon Ground cumin
½ teaspoon Ground allspice

Directions

Heat oil in heavy large skillet over medium heat. Add beef, onion and garlic and saute until beef is cooked through, breaking up beef with back of spoon, about 10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until vegetables are tender, about 15 minutes. Uncover, increase heat and cook until liquid thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.
