Swede dauphinoise

15 | grams | Butter; ( 1/2oz) |
1 | Clove garlic; crushed | |
75 | grams | Gruyere cheese; grated (3oz) |
1 | 584 ml; (20fl oz) carton | |
; single cream |
Directions
Preheat the oven to 190 C, 375 F, Gas Mark 5.
Cut the swede lengthways into four pieces. Thinly slice each quarter.
Place the flour with seasoning into a mixing bowl. Add the swede slices and toss well to evenly coat the slices in flour.
Generously grease an ovenproof dish with half the butter. Rub the crushed garlic over the inside of the dish.
Layer the flour coated swede slices in the dish with the grated gruyere cheese.
Dot the remining butter over the surface of the slices and carefully pour over the cream.
Bake in the preheated oven for 1½ hours until golden brown and the swede is tender. Cover with foil during cooking if over browing.
