Tarte aux pommes (apple tart) - house beautiful

Ingredients

4 | tablespoons | Cold butter |
2 | tablespoons | Cold solid shortening |
2 | teaspoons | Honey |
About 2 T ice water | ||
2 | larges | Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into thin slices |

Directions
In a food processor fitted with a steel blade, combine flour, salt, butter, shortening and honey. Process until mixture resembles corn- meal. With motor running, slowly add water and process until mixture forms a ball. Remove dough, wrap in plastic wrap and chill at least 1 hour.
Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface and line a 8-inch tart ring. Chill for 30 minutes. Prick bottom of dough with a fork, cover bottom with parchment paper and fill with dried beans. Bake in a preheated 375' oven for 10 minutes. Remove weighted paper and bake 5 minutes longer. Cool. Leave oven on.
Place sliced apples on pastry in an overlapping circular design, brush top with Kanten coulis and bake for 15 minutes or until apples begin to color. Cool. Unmold and serve at room temperature. Serves 4 to 6.
