Ingredients

4 Bacon strips, diced
1 large Onion, chopped
cup Dry lentils
1⅓ cup Water
2 tablespoons Ketchup
1 teaspoon Garlic powder
¾ teaspoon Chili powder
½ teaspoon Ground cumin
¼ teaspoon Dried red pepper flakes
1 Bay leaf
1 can Whole tomatoes with liquid, chopped (16 oz)
1 can Pinto beans, drained (15 oz
1 can Kidney beans, drained (16 oz.)

Directions

Lightly fry bacon in a heavy 3-qt. saucepan. Add onion; cook until transparent. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cook over medium heat for 45 minutes or until lentils are tender, stirring only once or twice.

Remove bay leaf before serving.
