Basic ground beef pasties

Ingredients

4 | cups | Flour |
2 | teaspoons | ;salt |
1 | pounds | Ground beef |
1½ | cup | Potatoes; diced (to 2 cups) |
½ | cup | Onions; chopped |
⅝ | cup | ;cold water |
1½ | cup | Lard; or shortening |
½ | cup | Carrots; chopped or grated |
;salt & pepper |
Directions
CRUST
FILLING
FILLING: Combine and mix well - can also use a can of cream or chicken or cream of mushroom shop, eliminating salt and pepper.
CRUST: Mix flour and salt together. Cut in half of shortening until mixture resembles meal, then cut in remaining shortening. Add water, work with fork or hands and shape dough until firm and oblong. Then divide into 9 portions. Roll out into 6" circle. Place ½ cup of filling on circle, fold over and seal. Prick with a fork several times. Bake at 400F for 10 minutes and then lower to 350F and bake 35-40 minutes longer. (Might need more baking time if using soup in filling).
