4 eaches Potatoes, cooked and mashed
¼ each Cabbage, cooked and sliced
2 eaches Carrots, cooked and coarsely chopped
1 each Onion, cooked and coarsely chopped

Directions

any cooked vegetables, or cooked sliced meat may be added as desired Heat some fat in a frying pan and fry the onions until brown, add carrots, and continue to stir gently. Add the potatoes and cabbage which have been mixed together and well seasoned. Stir until thoroughly hot, add a little vinegar, if desired, and turn out on a hot dish. Originally Bubble and Squeak included thin slices of cold meat placed on top of the dish, but now the meat is often excluded.
