Chinese-style chicken in lettuce cups - bon appetit

¼ | cup | Chopped fresh basil OR |
1 | tablespoon | Dried |
2 | tablespoons | Soy sauce |
2 | tablespoons | Fresh time juice |
2 | larges | Garlic cloves, chopped |
1 | large | Jalapeno chili, chopped |
1 | teaspoon | Sugar |
1 | teaspoon | Garlic chili sauce or hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco) |
1 | tablespoon | Oriental sesame oil or vegetable oil |
Boston lettuce leaves | ||
Chopped green onions (opt.) | ||
Roasted peanuts (opt.) |
Directions
Combine first 8 ingredients in medium bowl and stir to blend well.
(Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate.) Heat sesame oil in heavy medium skillet over high heat. Add chicken mix- ture and saute until chicken is just cooked through, breaking up clumps with back of spoon, about 4 minutes. Transfer chicken mixture to plattcr. Arrange lettuce around edges; serve, passing onions and peanuts, if desired.
