Corn-on-the-cob in a spicy gravy (masala makai)

Ingredients

2 Corn on the cobs
425 grams Can of tomatoes; juice only
½ small Onion, finely chopped
2 cloves Garlic, peeled & chopped
1 teaspoon Coriander seed
1 teaspoon Cumin seed
½ teaspoon Grated fresh ginger root
2 Green chillies, deseeded and chopped
1 1 inch piece cinnamon stick
1 Clove
cl = clove
ts = teaspoon

Directions

FOR THE SPICE PASTE

NOTES: 1 medium corn-cob will serve 3 as a side dish or 1 as main course.

CONVERSIONS: 425 g = 15 oz

ABBREVIATIONS: sm = small

If you only have a hand blender or no blender at all, grind the coriander, cumin, cinnamon and clove in a coffee grinder or pestle and mortar.
