Gingerbread ala kooknet

Ingredients

¼ pounds Butter
¾ cup Sugar
2 Eggs
¾ cup Boiling Water
¾ cup Molasses
cup Flour
2 teaspoons Baking Soda
½ teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Powdered Ginger

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350øF. Butter and lightly flour a 9 x 9" cake pan.

Cream the butter, add the sugar, and beat until light. Add the eggs and beat well. Ad the boiling water and molasses and blend. Mix together the flour, baking soda, salt and ginger. Add to the first mixture, and combine thoroughly. Pour into the prepared pan and bake 35-45 minutes, until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan about 5 minutes before turning out onto a plate.
