1 cup MOLASSES
1 cup SHORTENING
1 cup SOUR MILK
3 teaspoons BAKING SODA

Directions

DISSOLVE 1 TEASPOON SODA IN THE SOUR MILK. DISSOLVE THE REMAINING SODA IN 3 TABLESPOONS BOILING WATER. ADD GINGER, CINNAMON, SALT AND CLOVES TO THE WATER. ADD SOUR MILK. ADD ENOUGH FLOUR TO MAKE SOFT DOUGH. ROLL AND CUT INTO OBLONGS. BAKE TILL FIRM. WHEN COOL FROST WITH POWDERED SUGAR ICING
