2 | pounds | TOMATO -- CANS |
4 | cups | BEEF BROTH |
½ | cup | TOMATO PASTE |
1 | teaspoon | CUMIN -- GROUND |
2 | teaspoons | SALT |
2 | teaspoons | COCOA -- UNSWETND |
1 | teaspoon | CINNAMON -- GROUND |
1 | teaspoon | HOT PEPPERS -- LIQUID |
¼ | teaspoon | ALLSPICE -- GROUND |
¼ | teaspoon | CLOVES -- GROUND |
2 | tablespoons | CHILI POWDER |
Directions
In a kettle, cook ground beef with onion, celery and garlic until browned.
Add tomatoes with their liquid, beef broth, tomato paste and seasonings.
Simmer for 1 hour and add 1-2 cans of red beans if desired. Serve over buns with saltines or tortillas; or melt cheese over the top, spread with salsa and enjoy.
