Directions
There are several varieties of wintergreen plants. In some localities it is called checkerberry plant. It is a low shrub usually found in rocky ground in the woods. The berries are bright red. The whole plant may be used for spicing, but it is better to crush the berries, boil them and then strain through a cheesecloth and use the fluid for cooking.
