Hungarian soup with beef stew

Ingredients

1 | pounds | Beef stew meat; cut in 1-1/2 inch cubes |
½ | pounds | Onions; sliced |
6 | cups | Beef broth |
3 | tablespoons | Tomato paste |
3 | tablespoons | Paprika |
Salt & pepper to taste | ||
1 | dash | Garlic powder |
3 | tablespoons | Shortening |
1 | Green pepper; sliced |
Directions
Saute onions in shortening until tender. Brown beef; stir in remaining ingredients. Cover & simmer about 1-½ hours or until meat is tender. If soup is too thin, stir in 1 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved in ¼ cup water. Add green pepper ½ hour before serving.
