Ingredients

| 2 | cups | Sugar |
| 4 | Eggs | |
| 3 | cups | Flour |
| 1 | cup | Blackberry jam |
| 1 | teaspoon | (scant) soda |
| 1 | teaspoon | Cinnamon |
| 1 | teaspoon | Cloves |
| 1 | cup | Fresh buttermilk |
| 1 | can | Crushed pineapple |
| 1½ | cup | Sugar (use less if the pineapple syrup is heavy) |
| 1 | tablespoon | Butter |
| 1 | tablespoon | Flour |
Directions
FILLING
Cream butter and sugar together; add eggs. Combine soda, spices and flour.
Alternate flour mixture and buttermilk in egg mixture. Add jam. Bake in 3 pans at 350 degrees.
To make filling: Mix all ingredients and boil until thickened. Spread on cake.
