Kenyan maandazi (fried bread)

Ingredients

4 | cups | Flour |
½ | cup | Sugar |
½ | teaspoon | Baking soda |
1 | tablespoon | Active dry yeast |
1½ | cup | Water |
4 | tablespoons | Vegetable oil |
Directions
Combine dry ingredients in mixing bowl. Pour water and oil into center of flour mixture. Mix thoroughly.
Knead dough 15-20 minutes. Divide into 6 large balls. Roll each ball out into circles. Cut each circle into 4 triangles. Deep fry until brown.
NOTES : Maandazis taste best when they are warm. They are served on any occasion, except as a dessert.
