Maple syrup corn bread

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1⅛ cup Corn meal; yellow
1⅛ cup Wheat flour
3 teaspoons Baking powder
½ teaspoon Salt
cup Maple syrup
1 each Egg; well beaten
1 cup Milk; sweet
3 tablespoons Shortening

Directions

Add shortening to syrup. Mix all ingredients. Pour into shallow, well greased pan. Bake 20 minutes in hot oven. Cut into squares and serve hot.

Note: Hot oven is 400 - 450 F.
