Marbled coffee cake using quick bread mix

2 cups Quick Bread Mix
¼ cup Sugar
¾ cup Milk
1 Egg -- beaten
2 tablespoons Shortening
2 tablespoons Molasses
½ teaspoon Ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon Ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon Ground cloves
¼ cup Brown sugar -- firmly

2 tablespoons Quick Bread Mix
¼ teaspoon Ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon Butter OR margarine
Yield: 9 servings

Directions

Combine quick bread mix and sugar in mixing bowl; add milk, egg, and shortening, and beat at medium speed of an electric mixer until smooth. Remove 1 cup batter; combine with molassas, ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Place spoonfuls of plain batter into a greased 8-inch square baking pan in a checkerboard pattern. Spoon spiced batter in spaces around plain batter, gently swirl with a knife. Combine brown sugar, 2 Tablespoons Quick Bread Mix, and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon in a small bowl. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coars meal. Sprinkle mixture over batter. Bake at 375 F. for 25 to 30 minutes. Serve warm.
