1 | cup | Lard or shortening |
1 | cup | Sugar |
½ | cup | Molasses |
1 | teaspoon | Baking soda |
1 | teaspoon | Ginger |
1 | Egg | |
2 | cups | Flour |
Directions
Beat lard until it is soft. Add sugar and beat again. Add egg, beat until it's fluffy. Put in molasses, baking soda, and ginger and mix well. Stir in flour. Drop by spoonfuls onto a baking sheet. Bake in a moderate oven about 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Grandma Signe wrote in her book, next to this recipe, the single word "good".
