1½ | cup | Sugar |
½ | cup | Butter |
3 | Eggs, beaten good | |
2 | cups | Flour |
1 | teaspoon | Baking soda |
1 | teaspoon | Baking powder |
1 | teaspoon | Cinnamon |
1 | teaspoon | Allspice |
1 | teaspoon | Nutmeg |
1 | cup | Sour milk |
Directions
Beat together sugar and butter till creamy. Beat in eggs. Sift flour, then measure. Sift all dry ingredients together. Pour about ⅓ of the milk into the sugar mixture and mix well. Then put about ⅓ of the dry mixture in and beat well again. Continue alternating liquid and dry. Add a cupful of dates or nuts if desired. bake in a moderate oven till it tests done.
