Pears in chocolate syrup

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
cup Red wine
cup Sugar
Half stick cinnamon
1 pinch Ground coriander
3 Whole cloves
Grated rind of 1 orange
4 Firm; ripe pears
1 Jar chocolate sauce
3 tablespoons Cognac
Mint leaves for garnish; (optional)

Directions

In saucepan combine wine, sugar, cinnamon, coriander, cloves & rind. Bring to boil. Add pears. Reduce heat. Simmer just until tender, about 8 minutes.

Remove pears with slotted spoon. Core from bottom if desired. Place pears upright in 4 sherbet-type glasses or bowls. Mix together cognac & chocolate sauce. Pour sauce around pears. Garnish with mint if desired.

Approximately 10-12 minutes.
