Poached pears in red wine - house beautiful

2½ | cup | Red Bordeaux wine |
1 | Vanilla bean | |
½ | Lemon, sliced thin | |
Peeled rind of 1 lemon | ||
1 | tablespoon | Honey |
6 | Bartlett or Bosc pears, peeled |
Directions
In a saucepan add wine, vanilla bean, lemon slices, peel and honey and bring mixture to a boil. Add pears, reduce heat to simmer and cook for 10 to 15 minutes or until pears can easily be pierced with a fork. Continue to cook uncovered until the liquid in the pan resembles a light syrup, about 15 minutes. Remove pears from pan and place them on a serving dish. Spoon syrup over pears. Serve at room temperature.
