Porter beef (irish)

Ingredients

2 | pounds | Rib steak |
1½ | pounds | Onions |
½ | pounds | Mushrooms |
1 | x | Seasoned flour |
10 | fluid ounce | Guinness or other stout |
10 | fluid ounce | Stock or water |
1 | x | Pinch of nutmeg |
1 | x | Salt and pepper |
1 | x | Fat for frying |
Directions
Cut meat into fairly large chunks and roll in seasoned flour. Brown in hot fat and remove from pot. Chop onions roughly and fry gently for 2-3 minutes. Return meat to pot. Add all other ingredients.
Bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer gently for 2 hours or until meat is tender.
