Portuguese roast beef ** (rrbm10b)

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 Chuck roast; bone in or bone
1 can Whole tomatoes; large
½ cup Red wine
3 Cloves garlic; sliced
½ teaspoon Pickling spice
Salt to taste
4 A potatoes; quartered
23 A large onions; sliced

Directions

Place the roast in a baking pan. Place the potatoes around it. Put the sliced onions on top of this. Pour the tomatoes on next, cutting them up a bit. Pour on the wine, add the spices and add enough water to slightly cover. Bake at 350 degrees for about 2½ hours or until everything is tender. You can use sweet potatoes if you like.
