5 | pounds | Beef brisket |
1 | cup | Chili sauce |
4 | Stalks celery, sliced | |
¼ | cup | Water |
2 | Onions, sliced | |
1 | can | Beer |
Directions
Place onions and celery on beef in open roaster. Pour chili sauce over roast. Add water. Roast at 325 F. until browned, basting frequently. Cover and continue roasting until almost tender. Total cooking time to this point should be abt. 2½ hrs. Pour beer over brisket, recover, and continue roasting until tender, about 1 hr. Do not overcook. Remove fat from gravy, slice meat and return slices to sauce to serve.
