Red wine cake of assmannshausen

250 grams Butter; softened
250 grams Sugar
4 Eggs
1 teaspoon Vanilla essence; (5ml.)
250 grams Self raising flour
3 Heaped tablespoons cocoa
tablespoon Cinnamon
1 pinch Salt
100 grams Chopped dark chocolate
100 grams Chopped almonds
125 millilitres German style red wine
Icing sugar

Directions

Beat together the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla essence until light and fluffy then fold in the flour, cocoa, cinnamon and salt.

Mix well, then when the batter is smooth, add the red wine, chocolate and nuts and mix well.

Pour into a buttered kugelhopf or loaf tin and bake at 175c. for 70-80 minutes.

Remove from the oven and cool slightly before removing from the tin. Dust with icing sugar and serve warm or cool with cream.
