Skillet golden corn bread

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 cup Yellow cornmeal
¾ cup Boiling water
1 tablespoon Shortening; melted
1 teaspoon Sugar
¼ teaspoon Salt
2 tablespoons Light corn syrup
1 tablespoon Flour
1 teaspoon Baking powder
2 tablespoons Milk
1 Egg; beaten lightly

Directions

Pour cornmeal into boiling water; add shortening, sugar and salt. Mix well.

Stir in remaining ingredients; combine well. Spread in greased 8 inch skillet; cover; cook over low heat for 12 minutes. Serves 6-8.
