Spiced pear jam

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
8 cups Pear -- about 5 lbs.
Chopped or coarsely ground
Peeled
4 cups Sugar
1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon Ground cloves

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a large kettle. simmer, uncovered, for 1½ to 2 hours or until thick, stirring occasionally. Stir more frequently as the mixture thickens. Remove from the heat; skim off foam. Pour hot into hot jars, leaving ¼ in. headspace. Adjust caps.

Process for 10 min. in a boiling-water bath. Yield: 6 half pints.
