Steamed apples and rhubarb

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 pounds Fresh rhubarb; cut into 1-inch pieces
1 pounds Granny smith apples; peeled, cored; and sliced 1/4-inch thick
¾ cup Sugar
½ teaspoon Grated orange zest
½ teaspoon Ground dried ginger
teaspoon Ground nutmeg

In a 2-quart microwave-safe casserole, combine rhubarb and apples. In a separate bowl, combine remaining ingredients and mix well. Sprinkle over rhubarb and apples. Toss well to coat them evenly. Cover with plastic wrap (leave a small vent on 1 side so that steam can escape). Microwave on HIGH for 9 to 12 minutes, until rhubarb and apples are tender. Rotate the dish ¼ turn every 4 minutes. Let stand, covered, for 10 minutes. Serve warm.
