1½ | cup | Shredded three-cheese blend; divided (6 ounces) |
One 9-inch unbaked pie shell |
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. In a large skillet, melt the butter and cook the sliced onions over medium-high heat for 15 minutes, stirring frequently until tender and just slightly golden. Remove from the heat and drain any excess liquid. Place in a medium-sized bowl and add the sour cream, eggs, salt, pepper, and 1 cup of the cheese blend; mix well. Pour into the unbaked pie shell and bake for 30 minutes, then remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining ½ cup cheese over the top. Allow to stand for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese melts and the custard firms up.
NOTE: If desired, add ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg to the sour cream mixture.
