Tomato, onion, and basil on french bread

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
3 larges Tomato -- sliced 1/4\" thick
1 small Onion -- in rings
12 Leaves basil
3 tablespoons Olive oil
1 tablespoon Balsamic vinegar
Salt and pepper
1 French bread loaf

Directions

Place the tomatoes, onion and basil in a bowl. Sprinkle with the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper. Toss gently. Taste for seasoning. Spoon the mixture evenly over 4 of the pieces of bread and top with the remaining 4 pieces. The sandwiches keep well wrapped for up to 8 hours.
