1 | gallon | Blackberries, unwashed |
1 | ounce | Tartaric acid |

Directions
Put berries in stone crock, cover with water and add acid. let stand for 24 hours, then strain. To each pint of liquid, add a pound of sugar. Boil for 20 minutes. Bottle hot, and keep in a dry, cool place. Serve ice cold, diluted with water, or else over crushed ice.
